I can never have enough coasters around the house. I keep them everywhere. I have made many over the years but haven’t made any recently. So, I thought it was time for a new set. This Pattern is very easy and beginner friendly. It doesn’t use much yarn so it would be great for any scraps you might have. I used a cotton and polyester blend, but any medium weight size 4 cotton yarn will work just fine for this pattern. Materials 1 Skein of Premiere Rodeo ( I used light Indigo) You can use any cotton yarn size medium 4 7/4.5mm Crochet Hook Stitch Marker Tapestry Needle Scissors Abbreviations ch – Chain sl st – Slip Stitch dc – Double Crochet crab stitch – Reverse single crochet yo – Yarn Over st – Stitch Crab Stitch Is worked on right side and in the opposite direction than usual * insert hook into the next st on right if you are right-handed (left st for lefties), yo, draw up a loop, yo, draw through both loops on hook; repeat from * around. Pattern Notes When doing crab stitch the stitches should be done loosely, that will give you the rolled edge of the coaster. The second round of crab stitches is worked directly over the first. When finished the coaster measures 5″ in diameter. Pattern Make a magic ring Round 1 – Ch 2, work 12 dc into the magic ring, sl st to first dc to close the round (12) Round 2 – Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to first dc (24) Round 3 – Ch 2, *2 dc, dc, repeat from * around, sl st to first dc (36) Round 4 – Ch 2, *2 dc, dc, dc, repeat from * around, sl st to first dc (48) Round 4 – Ch 1, place your st marker, crab st into the space in between the dc of the previous round **DO NOT SL ST AT THE END OF THE ROUND** Round 5 – crab st directly over the previous crab st round, make sure you are pulling up when you yo and pull up a loop and make your crab stitch loose.
